Police bust illegal gambling venue in Paphos

Police in Paphos arrested five persons on Wednesday for illegal gambling.

According to police spokesman, Michalis Nikolaou, officers carried out a raid on the premises – a café – where they found five persons gambling with dice, as well as the manager of the establishment.

During the operation, police seized 104 playing cards and 52 gambling chips and all six persons were accused in writing and released to be summoned at a later date.

One of the six people arrested had previous fines pending against him and was released after paying €250.

Nikolaou stated that during the holiday season, police crack downs on illegal gambling and electronic gaming are intensified.
