Two people were caught in the act while stealing from a church donation box in Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias on Friday and were subsequently arrested.
The village community leader Nikos Cleanthous said members of the public who were at the Ayis Irinis church in the area saw the suspects trying to steal the donation box.
They immediately called police who arrested the two and detained them.
