Rain, thunderstorms and snow warning

A yellow weather warning was in effect until Saturday noon for rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Issued by the met department, the warning was valid from 5pm on Friday until 12pm on Saturday.

It details a combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms is expected, particularly on the western and southern coasts.

According to the warning, total precipitation is likely to locally exceed 50 mm in the six-hour period.

Meanwhile the Prodromos-Troodos road is open only to 4×4 vehicles and those with snow chains.

Police said there is dense fog in the area and roads are slippery due to snowfall.
