An explosion occurred at a Nicosia café early on Saturday morning, while two staff members were there for work.

The incident unfolded shortly before 5am in Strovolos and the side door of the establishment had extensive damages as a result.

Both employees are well, and police suspect it may have been an improvised explosive device that went off.

Investigations continue.
