Police on Monday prevented an attempt to supply drugs to a person held in custody at Polis Chrysochous police station in Paphos.

According to the police, the incident happened around noon when a 39-year-old woman arrived to deliver food to a 26-year-old man being held on the premises.

Officers carrying out a check found a small amount of cannabis, weighing 1.25 grams, hidden in a bag of rice.

Police arrested the 35-year-old for evident offences of possession of an illegal drug with intent to supply.

After questioning, she was accused in writing and released to be summoned to court later.

The 26-year-old, who had been held in custody since Sunday, remains in custody, and was also accused in writing regarding the drug supply case, after allegedly confessing that he had requested the drugs.
