Police in Paphos arrested of a 56-year-old woman residing in the district who was wanted by British authorities for fraud. 

According to the police, the woman was arrested on Tuesday around 5.30pm pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the United Kingdom, for the purpose of criminal prosecution.

The alleged crime, committed between 2017 and 2019, concerns the embezzlement of an amount of approximately €296,000.

She appeared in court on Wednesday, where it was decided that she would remain in custody until Friday, allowing her the time to appoint a lawyer before the case continues on Friday.

Paphos police’s assistant operations director Michalis Nikolaou said the Paphos District Court is set to begin procedures for the 56-year-old’s extradition to Britain.
