The new president-elect of the European Council, Antonio Costa is visiting Cyprus on Wednesday.

The former premier of Portugal who was elected in June and will assume office in December, will meet President Nikos Christodoulides at 10am and take a tour of the walled city of Nicosia and the buffer zone.

The two leaders will then have lunch with their delegations.

Costa, in preparation for his official assumption of office is visiting EU member states to formulate policies and common approaches for the next critical period for EU institutions.
