A contract was signed at the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday to upgrade Nicosia’s Famagusta Avenue.

The Aglandjia street, from the junction with Kalavryton Street to the SOPAZ roundabout and the secondary road network, will begin in February.

The project will finish in 24 months at a cost of €9,367,460.

It includes the construction of four traffic lanes, two new roundabouts and the improvement of the existing SOPAZ roundabout, the construction of bus stops and pedestrian crossings, pavements and a shared pedestrian-cyclist zones.

Other than that, the project will build a central island, a green belt, work on rainwater drainage, sewerage, water supply and irrigation and also the construction of road markings and traffic lights.
