A 30-year-old man from Nicosia was arrested on Friday night after police found him to be committing sundry traffic offences at once.
The police first observed him running a red light while using a mobile phone with one of his headlights out, and as such, pulled him over.
When pulled over, the man gave false details to the police, before it was found that he was driving without a licence and without insurance.
He was then subjected to a breathalyser test, where it was found that he was four times over the legal alcohol limit to drive.
He then underwent a drug test with a positive preliminary result but then refused to provide a sample for laboratory testing. Half a gram of cannabis was then found in his possession.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
