Police arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with an ongoing burglary case in Paphos, it emerged on Sunday.
The Paphos district court later in the day ordered his remand for five days.
According to a statement issued by the police, a number of jewellery and other property, which had been stolen from a shop, were found in the 23-year-old’s possession by officers.
The burglary occurred at a souvenir shop around 5.00 am on Saturday morning. According to the complaint, various items of jewellery including silver rings and silver necklaces were stolen from the shop.
During the investigation of the case by the Paphos police, evidence against the 23-year-old was found. He was located by officers at around 2.00 pm on Saturday at his residence, where police subsequently conducted a search. During the search, the 23-year-old handed over to the members of the police a bag, which contained, among other things, 34 rings and eight necklaces, which, according to him, constituted property stolen during the burglary of the souvenir shop.
