Eurobank Cyprus has renewed its cooperation agreement with Cyprus Seeds, a non-profit organisation focused on the commercialisation of innovative academic research.

This is the sixth consecutive year of Eurobank supporting the organisation, something which the bank said “confirms its commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship”.

According to the announcement, this partnership aims to bolster the startup ecosystem and ensure its successful integration with the entrepreneurial community.

This is achieved either through the identification of promising startups from academic research teams at universities and Centres of Excellence in Cyprus or through the execution of licensing agreements.

The agreement was formalised on January 24, 2025, at Eurobank Cyprus’ headquarters and it was signed by Achilleas Malliotis, the bank’s Senior General Manager, and Maria Markidou Georgiadou, the Managing Director of Cyprus Seeds.

Cyprus Seeds is a non-profit organisation that offers funding, mentoring, business education and international networking, with the aim of supporting the commercialisation, at an international level, of the high quality innovative scientific research carried out in Cyprus’ universities.

It is also mentioned that to date, Cyprus Seeds has incubated and supported six startups, with Senssos Ltd and Mammocheck Ltd being the most recent beneficiaries.

Additionally, SENSSOS is developing a virtual biofeedback mirror that enhances musculoskeletal health, aiding in prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation.

Its cutting-edge technology provides real-time feedback on posture and muscle activity through a digital twin avatar.

The system also facilitates both real-time and retrospective analysis, allowing individuals and healthcare professionals to utilise the data effectively.

Meanwhile, Mammocheck is revolutionising breast health monitoring with its instant, safe, and affordable exams.

This innovation fosters early detection of breast cancer, thus improving survival rates and decreasing healthcare costs.

In the announcement, it is mentioned that the technology offers an affordable and accurate diagnostic solution for women worldwide.

Achilleas Malliotis emphasised, “Investing in research and innovation is crucial for the sustainable growth of the economy and a fundamental element for enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of our economic model.”

He further added, “As part of its strategy for sustainable development, Eurobank Cyprus is advancing a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme and has embraced ESG criteria.”

Malliotis noted, “Recognising their significance in environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance, through our partnership with Cyprus Seeds, we will continue to actively support scientific excellence and startups in interfacing with the business community.”

He concluded by recognising “the considerable economic and social advantages they deliver.”

Echoing these sentiments, Maria Markidou Georgiadou remarked, “We are particularly pleased to renew our partnership with Eurobank Cyprus, which has supported our initiatives for six consecutive years, significantly strengthening the startup ecosystem.”

She continued, “Through this collaboration, we assist Cypriot research teams in transforming their academic research into successful startups.”

Finally, Markidou Georgiadou said that “This support not only enables us to incubate new businesses but also contributes significantly to converting scientific knowledge into tangible benefits for the Cypriot economy.”
