Coca-Cola HBC group has been recognised for the eighth time as the world’s most sustainable beverage company, according to the 2024 Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices.

Previously known as the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), these benchmarks set by S&P Global evaluate companies globally based on their long-term economic, environmental, and social sustainability criteria.

This year, Coca-Cola HBC has also earned a double ‘A’ rating from CDP, reflecting its exemplary achievements in climate protection and effective water management.

Zoran Bogdanovic, the CEO of Coca-Cola HBC Group, emphasised the company’s commitment to a sustainable business model.

“We are constantly evolving our business model to grow successfully and sustainably,” he said.

“Adopting a clear strategic approach to sustainable development strengthens the resilience of our organisation” he mentioned, adding that “Each year, we make good progress towards achieving our ambitious and measurable sustainability targets.

In 2025, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) endorsed our NetZeroby40 target, which for the first time includes Egypt.”

Bogdanovic also noted the increasing importance of sustainability efforts to their customer base. “Our customers value our sustainability expertise and our collaborative sustainability initiatives help grow their business, which in turn strengthens us,” he explained.

He also expressed gratitude towards colleagues, customers, suppliers, and partners for their support in these endeavours.

According to the announcement, in line with its long-term goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2040, Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus is making significant strides.

The company has focused on reducing energy consumption and ensuring that the electricity supply for its factories is sourced entirely from renewable resources, with 66.9 per cent of its total energy now derived from renewables.

The adoption of electric forklifts and the replacement of traditional vehicles with electric and hybrid models underscore its commitment to the Green Fleet programme.

Additionally, in an effort to minimise its carbon footprint, the company is upgrading its market refrigerators to high energy efficiency models.

Water management also remains a key priority. Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus has implemented water recycling and reuse systems in over 75 per cent of its Nicosia and Kykkos plants.

Since 2010, the company has achieved a 34.6 per cent reduction in its water use ratio. It conducts continuous monitoring and metering of water consumption, employing analysis and online measurements to accurately assess usage.

Furthermore, Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus is actively supporting the community by empowering the younger generation and enhancing employment opportunities through its innovative ‘Youth Empowered’ free training programme.
