A 25-year-old motorcyclist was arrested driving without a licence, insurance or registration plates and in possession of 2.8g of methamphetamine after a chase by police in Limassol on Friday evening.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:30pm when officers spotted the driver riding without registration plates and tried to stop him.

The motorcyclist then tried to escape the officers, driving dangerously in his effort to do so, jumping red lights, overtaking recklessly and even entering the opposite lane of traffic.

He was eventually arrested after crashing into a car during the chase, allowing officers to apprehend him. A preliminary drug test showed a positive result.

The 25-year-old was arrested for evident offences including the illegal possession of drugs.

He was questioned and later admitted to Limassol general hospital, where he was kept in for treatment.
