The Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre has been re-accredited by CHKS, the internationally recognised health quality accreditation organisation in the United Kingdom, and has also been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification.
This international accreditation has been maintained continuously since 2007, when the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre became the first hospital in Cyprus and Greece to receive accreditation. Since then, the Centre has systematically maintained its accreditation and ISO 9001 certification through triennial reassessments and annual inspections.
This dual recognition confirms both the high quality of care provided and the effectiveness of the Centre’s governance and quality assurance systems, in full alignment with internationally recognised best practices.
The accreditation was awarded following an independent inspection by senior healthcare professionals, accredited as assessors by an independent body. The inspection confirmed the Centre’s compliance with the specialized quality and safety standards of the CHKS organisation, which are accredited by the ISQA (The International Society for Quality in Health Care).
CHKS accreditation provides a structured framework for quality assurance and continuous improvement. For the Centre, this translates into documented internal procedures, improved communication and increased staff participation in quality improvement activities. For patients, it means confidence in consistent, safe, and high-quality care. The accreditation process involves the use of the CHKS electronic platform, through which the compliance of all departments and services with the specific standards is recorded and documented.
“This reaccreditation reflects the steadfast commitment of our people to quality, safety and people-centred care. At the same time, it strengthens the trust of patients and their families and ensures the high quality of care provided,” noted General Manager of the Bank of Cyprus Cancer Centre, Panos Ergatoudis.
The renewal of CHKS accreditation, in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015 certification, further strengthens the role of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre as a benchmark for oncology care in Cyprus, with a steadfast commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
