Paphos airport returned to action on Monday afternoon, having earlier been evacuated after a “suspicious object” was seen on radars.

The evacuation saw passengers and staff alike removed from the terminal building and taken into the car park, with it believed that the evacuation was linked to the firing of two drones at Cyprus shortly after midday.

Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis had earlier said that both drones had been “dealt with“.

Meanwhile, a source from the interior ministry informed the Cyprus Mail that while no evacuation orders were given for nearby villages, residents of the nearby village of Timi were instructed to avoid “unnecessary movements”.

It had been reported that Timi, alongside nearby Mandria and Konia, had been evacuated.
