The national health scheme (Gesy) is “one of the most important social achievements in our country and must be continuously evaluated,” President Nikos Christodoulides said on Friday.
Arriving at the offices of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) to discuss issues concerning the transfer of patients abroad for treatment, Christodoulides recalled that the cabinet on Thursday approved the use of all Cyprus National Guard aircraft and the government’s jet for medical emergencies.
Christodoulides said the government’s aim was to strengthen and improve health services for the public.
“This is our goal and we will do everything possible in that direction. That is why we are continuously investing in this sector, because for us it is an investment, not an expenditure,” he said.
