Two Greek F-16 fighter jets took off from Andreas Papandreou airbase in Paphos on Wednesday, just before noon, it was made known on Thursday.
The jets, currently deployed to the airbase, lifted off in the framework of continuous personnel training and operational readiness.
Sources said this was a planned activity and there was no cause for concern, as there were neither an alarm nor a threat detected.
The F-16s are in Cyprus in the framework of regular manoeuvres to maintain a high level of readiness among crews and forces operating from the airbase.
