Paphos fire brought under control

A fire that broke out in the morning between Peyia and Kathikas in Paphos is well under control, the Fire service said on Saturday.

The fire was reported at around 9am, the service said, and was brought under control by midday.

The service recruited five fire trucks and two helicopters to put out the fire, which burned around one hectare of shrubs and wild vegetation.

A truck of the service remained in the area to watch out for a possible rekindling of the fire.
