New Year’s Day swimmers welcome in 2021

Members of a nautical club in Limassol that regularly head to the beach for New Year’s Day swim carried on their tradition on Friday with a dip to welcome 2021.

Following all the health protocols, the group met at 9am.

One participant, Alekos Orountiotis told reporters they went to celebrate the new year in even though their event was completely different from other years as the did not meet for coffee afterwards.

“We wish the whole world happy birthday and a happy new year,” he said.

“It is a different year from all the others because of the pandemic and we hope that this problem will be overcome soon and that we will continue our lives as before,” he added.
