Minor pleads guilty to driving offences

Speed Cameras

A minor pleaded guilty to four traffic offences on Monday after Limassol police arrested him driving more than twice the speed limit under the influence of alcohol late on Sunday.

The 17-year-old boy was released on bond, pending the announcement of his sentence on January 7.

Police arrested the minor while on patrol at 9.10pm driving at 205km/h along a road in Ayios Athanasiou. The maximum permitted speed limit for the specific road was 80km/h.

He was also driving without a licence or insurance.

Moreover, a breathalyser to which he was subjected read 18μg instead of the 9μg allowed for a novice driver.

The teenager was arrested on the spot and taken to a police station.
