National Council to discuss developments on the Cyprus issue

A meeting of the National Council, the country`s top advisory body, takes place on Thursday at 11am  at the Presidential Palace, to discuss developments on the Cyprus issue, following a meeting of President Nicos Anastasiades with UN Special Envoy, Jane Holl Lute last Monday.

President Anastasiades has expressed to Jane Holl Lute his readiness to take part in an informal five-party conference in the context of a letter the UNSG sent on October 26, 2020,  government spokesperson Kyriacos Koushos said following a meeting with Lute last Monday. He also announced that a meeting of the National Council would be convened on Thursday.

On Tuesday, UN Secretary General`s spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stressed that Special Envoy Jane Holl Lute is continuing her consultations with all parties, including the guarantor powers.
