As night fell, the joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC) said it was suspending a search and rescue operation in the sea off Larnaca for a 70-year-old woman who has been missing since Sunday.

Tuesday’s search involved vessels from the coastguard, police helicopters, drones, the fire service’s disaster response unit (Emak) on jet skis, civil defence who combed the land area, lifeguards, British Bases personnel and volunteers.

The search for the missing woman will continue on Wednesday morning, it added.
