Paphos police to set up domestic violence team

Paphos police are to set up a special team to investigate domestic violence cases, it emerged on Thursday.

According to the head of Paphos CID Michalis Ioannou in the next few days the force will be setting up a team with officers who will specialise in the investigation of domestic violence cases that need sensitive handling.

Ioannou said the officers selected to be on the team will undergo training and assume their duties by February 15.

The team will be under the supervision of the CID.

Members of the team will not deal with anything else to be able to respond to their duties effectively and afford victims of domestic violence the necessary security and protection.

Such teams are already in operation in Limassol and Larnaca.
