Coronavirus: New record number of checks, 106 booked

Police carried out 14,734 checks to curb the spread of the coronavirus in 24 hours from Monday until Tuesday, a new record number, and booked 103 individuals and three businesses.

Most of those booked did not have the required SMS permission for movement.

The numbers by district:

Nicosia: 3,751 checks, 26 booked

Limassol: 5,094 checks, 40 individuals, 2 businesses booked

Larnaca: 1,500 checks, 11 booked

Paphos: 1,396 checks, 12 individuals, 1 business booked

Famagusta: 1,028 checks, 10 booked

Morphou: 908 checks, 2 booked.

In addition, traffic police conducted 948 inspections and fined two persons, the rapid response unit carried out 34, and marine police 75.

This is the second time police carried out more than 14,500 checks. The previous record of 14,596 checks was recorded four days ago.
