Free Wi-Fi at six locations in Strovolos

Free Wi-fi is available at six locations in Strovolos through the EU programme, WiFI4EU, Strovolos Municipality said on Wednesday.

It said the service is available at the following locations: Stavrou area, Strovolos cultural centre and library (Archbishop Kyprianou 34), Municipal Sports Centre (Korytsas 20),  Ayios Demetris Park (entrance from Acropolis Avenue and Korytsas and Demetri Liperti streets), Acropolis Park (Pentelis 33) and Strovolos public market (Demetris Vikela, north section of parking area near GSP stadium).

Visitors can link up for free without access passwords. Strovolos Municipality applied to the programme and was approved €15,000 in financing to acquire and install the equipment. The grant does not include the infrastructure and the subscription fees which are covered by the municipality. The work was carried out by contractor, M&I Join My Wifi Ltd.

Mayor Andreas Papacharalambous said the free Wi-Fi in public areas was another step forward for the municipality as it seeks to offer upgraded services to its residents.

And he expressed the hope that strategic plans to implement smart city systems submitted as part of the comprehensive plan for the municipalities of greater Nicosia will be approved by the competent authorities, thereby improving the quality of life of urban Nicosia residents.
