A visual and sound installation in Nicosia

castle of anti escape oδές οδύνης και ηδον

An installation is coming to Nicosia by visual artist Maria Leonidou, performance artist Lia Haraki and sound designer Yiannis Christofides as they come together to construct a visual and sound installation of an alien/uncanny world with its own unique codes and rules.

Reel, as the installation is called, is a universe made of five sounding videos of virtual sculptures which can be experienced by the viewer. It is a work that was developed during the lockdown, which was also a time, as the organisers say, of huge revelations in relation to corruption, injustice and abuse by the Cyprus political system.

The three artists, inspired and moved by people’s demonstrations demanding justice and peace, created a piece about the importance of resistance. The installation will open on Thursday at Theatro Polis OPAP in Old Nicosia between 6pm and 8.30pm. It will remain open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 8.30pm for a weekend dose of art.
