Strovolos municipality calls for respect as parking metre destroyed

καταστροφή μηχανής οδός έβρου

Strovolos locals were urged by the municipality on Friday to respect public property following repeated damage to parking meters in the area.

Ticket machines in public parking spaces are being repeatedly damaged, Strovolos municipality said.

The most recent of these took place on Evrou Street, where the machine was destroyed by people trying to take the cash out of it.

All necessary measures have been taken by the Municipal Service to restart the machine and a complaint has been made to the police.

It is “unthinkable, in such a difficult period for all of us, to burden municipal finances in such a reckless way,” the municipality said.

“As a local authority, the Municipality of Strovolos is concerned by this delinquent and anti-social behaviour and is examining various ways of dealing with it, as it has no place in our municipality,” it said.
