Annual conference on visual communication on its way

past exhibition

Just under a month remains until the 7th edition of Graphic Stories Cyprus takes place. Last year, it managed to conclude its edition just a few days before Cyprus entered its first lockdown. In 2021, the conference dedicated to visual creation and communication returns aiming to happen both physically in Nicosia for a limited number of spectators and online for the wider public.

Aigaia School of Art & Design will host the conference on May 21, 22 and 23 with various presentations, lectures and workshops on the agenda. Fifty audience members will be allowed to be physically present at Aigaia for the presentations while they will be simultaneously live streamed via Zoom. The conference will begin with a series of lectures on Friday, May 21 at 3pm from numerous guest speakers ranging from art directors, motion designers, illustrators and of course graphic designers.

On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 workshops for adults and children will take place at the venue in Agioi Omologites and could move onto Zoom if measures require. There will also be four workshops as part of the series of events: an engraving workshop, calligraphy, an introduction to 3D animation and a junior animation workshop.

Part of the conference’s agenda is also the 5th International Poster Contest by Graphic Stories Cyprus, titled Break Down the Walls. The contest collected 856 entries from 49 countries, a record number for a Graphic Stories event. The 10 distinguished designers of international reputation that form the jury committee have selected 50 participants. The official results of the contest will be announced on Friday, May 21, when the Conference will take place, during the inauguration of the exhibition.

The contest along with the conferences and workshops of the 7th Graphic Stories Cyprus aim to show and promote the value of visual communication to the public, creating culture and values and its interaction with what is happening in the society.
