Three people have been arrested for taking wood to the church yard in Panayia, Paphos on Holy Saturday evening and causing a disturbance, police said on Monday.
According to the police, a group of young people took the wood to the church to light an Easter fire and to throw firecrackers.
Members of the force went to the scene and prevented them from lighting a fire, which was not allowed this year due to coronavirus restrictions.
The young people starting swearing at the police and managed to set the wood alight anyway, a fire that was later put out by the fire brigade.
After further enquiries police were able to arrest three people, two aged 21 and one 31.
Investigations continue.
