Coronavirus: 26 booked from 3,957 checks

Cyprus police booked 25 people and one business after 3,957 checks for coronavirus health protocol violations, mainly failure to wear a face mask, a spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday.

Some 1,059 checks were carried out in Nicosia and seven people were fined, while in Limassol ten people were fined from 652 checks.

Larnaca police carried out 638 checks with one person and one business found violating protocols and another five people were fined in Famagusta after 550 checks.

Police also carried out 593 checks in Morphou without any reports of violations.

Two people were fined out of 435 checks by the traffic police.

Marine police performed 30 checks without reporting any breach of protocols.

According to a police spokesman, the violations mainly concerned failure to wear a face mask.
