Woman remanded after 15kg cannabis found in her suitcase (updated)

A 48-year-old woman who arrived in Cyprus with more than 15 kilos of cannabis was arrested on Sunday and remanded into police custody on Monday.

Members of the drug squad and the customs department at Larnaca airport found the illegal drugs during checks in the luggage of the Romanian woman, who arrived in Cyprus at around 4pm on Sunday.

A total of 26 plastic bags with 15 kilos and 333 grammes of cannabis were confiscated from her suitcase. Officers also found €350 in cash.

Larnaca district court remanded the woman for eight days later in the day.
