A list of hotels and other tourist complexes participating in a special scheme to boost domestic tourism is available online, the deputy ministry of tourism said on Wednesday.

Open to permanent residents, the scheme starts on June 1 and ends on November 30, excluding July and August, it added.

The participating businesses are listed on the deputy ministry’s website on www.visitcyprus.com and on the link https://www.visitcyprus.com/domestic-tourism-2020-2021.

The 171-strong list includes 59 options in the Famagusta district, 19 in the Larnaca district, 26 in the Limassol district, 20 in the Nicosia district and Pyrgos Tyllirias and 47 in the Paphos district.

Taking part are hotels, organised apartments, tourist villages and agro-tourism accommodation. The maximum price is €60 a night with breakfast for a double room.

The scheme aims to encourage residents to spend their holidays in Cyprus by offering accessible prices at tourist accommodation. Part of the stay is subsidised.

This is the third extension of a scheme found to be particularly beneficial for the tourism sector and by extension the economy, the deputy ministry said.

In addition, the scheme provides for coverage of 35 per cent of the accommodation cost, including charges for children, by the deputy ministry,

There is a minimum stay of two nights for the special prices to apply.

Those interested should contact the accommodation directly or book through a travel firm.
