A 44-year-old man was found with 22 cannabis plants and more than 12 kilos of cannabis in his Limassol home after he was stopped for a traffic check, police said on Thursday.

After receiving a tip-off, members of the drug squad stopped the man, who was driving, for a traffic check at around 4pm on Wednesday in Limassol.

Officers arrested him after they found four plastic bags containing 1.140kg of cannabis in his car.

Following a search in his house, police found a room that had been turned into a cannabis nursery with 22 cannabis plants from 14 to 20 centimeters in height. Some 12 kilos and 300 grammes of cannabis as well as €300 in cash were also confiscated from his house.

The suspect is being investigated for possession and cultivation of cannabis plants, illegal possession of drugs with intent to deal and money laundering.
