President Nicos Anastasiades successfully underwent a minor spinal operation on Friday, government spokesperson Kyriakos Koushos said on Friday.

The president is feeling well and will remain in hospital until tomorrow morning as a precautionary measure, he added.

Doctors said that the operation went well.

Anastasiades announced on Thursday night that he was due to have the operation.

He had a heart mitral valve surgery in New York on December 4, 2014, and an emergency surgery after a thigh bone fracture on June 29, 2019.
