Integrated development plan for Tylliria

The study for the preparation of an integrated development plan of Tylliria has started and is expected to be completed in ten months, the interior ministry announced on Thursday.

According to the announcement, the study will cover the areas of Kato Pyrgos, Pano Pyrgos, Pigenia, Ayios Theodoros – Mansoura, Mosphili, Pachiamos and Pomos – Paliabela. It will be conducted within the next ten months by Dr Charalambos Koutalakis who was awarded the contract following a tender.

The study aims to define the short-term to long-term policies, measures and actions aimed at stimulating the economic, social, cultural and environmental development of the region.

The actions will focus on improving the basic infrastructure of the area and strengthening the administrative capacity of the local government and the coordination of all co-competent bodies as well as stimulating the local economy. The plan also aims to improve the quality of life of the residents, the announcement added.

Meetings and consultations with local and other stakeholders as well as various ministries and departments will be taking place as part of the study.

Tylliria in the northwest is among the most remote and unspoiled areas of Cyprus.
