Suspected arsonist arrested over Paphos fire

Handcuffs 07 1

Police said Friday they have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of setting a fire in the Paphos district two days ago.

The fire broke out between the villages of Kelokedara and Trahipedoula early on Wednesday.

Investigators said the suspect has admitted to setting the fire.

The fire did not damage any properties, and air and land forces remained in the area to extinguish the remaining flames and bring the blaze under control, as strong winds kept causing re-ignitions.
