Paphos police were investigating a house break-in on Saturday and the theft of cash and a watch worth €180,000.

The theft was reported by the resident of the house at 11.45pm on Friday. The 41-year-old said that while he was out between 7pm and 8pm, someone had stolen a safe that contained €100,000 in cash and a watch worth €80,000.

Investigators determined that the thief or thieves entered the house through a balcony door on the first floor that was closed but unlocked.

The owner said he had no insurance coverage.
