Procedure ongoing for Peyia walkway bids

The procedure for the announcement of a bid offer for the two-kilometre coastal walkway in Peyia amounting to €2.5m is continuing, mayor Marinos Lambrou said on Wednesday.

The project concerns the completion of the first phase of the coastal walkway which will span some 14 kilometres from the area of the Marina in Potima to the Ayios Georgios port in Peyia, the mayor told the Cyprus News Agency.

An amphitheatre, an outdoor gym, a basketball court, a kiosk and a playground are foreseen during the construction of the first phase of the project, Lambrou explained.

According to the mayor, this is a very important project that will upgrade Peyia municipality.

The completion of the project is expected in around 18 months.

The municipality has also announced the bid for the asphalt paving project, estimated to cost €1m.

The aim of the project, Lambrou said, is the comfort and safety of the residents and the visitors of Peyia with the completion of the entire road network of the municipality.
