Fourteen migrants, including two children, who were spotted in a vessel late on Wednesday in the sea off Cape Greco in Akrotiri are expected to be returned to Lebanon, police said on Thursday.

The boat was spotted around 9pm on Wednesday. Members of the marine police approached the vessel which carried ten men, two women and two minors from Lebanon.

Police said they followed the relevant agreement reached with Lebanon covering migrants’ return, and transferred the migrants to a port ship where they stayed overnight.

They also provided them with food and water.

On Thursday, the 14 were expected to be returned to Lebanon, police said.
