Two more cases of suspected ID forgeries at Paphos airport

Paphos police are investigating two more cases of forgery after the arrest of two people at Paphos airport.

According to police, a woman was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday at the airport before leaving for Belgium after showing a

French identity card.

Further examination, however, revealed that the photograph on the ID was not the same as the person who presented it.

The woman was arrested and taken to CID for questioning.

In addition, a three-day remand was issued by the Paphos district court against another person involving a case of forgery.

According to police, on Sunday at the Paphos airport, a person of African origin tried to travel to France by showing a French passport.

During checks it was found that this was not genuine as the photo didn’t match the bearer.

There has been a recent spate of arrests at Paphos airport of people, mostly of African origin, trying to leave Cyprus with fake French documents.
