Summer music in Kakopetria

kakopetria festival

Cyprus’ mountain villages are charming, friendly places to be and to seek refuge from the high summer temperatures. Besides their cool shade, rivers and tasty local food, several of the island’s mountain villages host events during the summer months. Typically, these are traditional festivals and markets yet Kakopetria village has something else in mind for August. A mini music festival is scheduled for August 13 and 14 featuring several local artists.

The Kakopetria Elementary School will transform into an outdoor concert hall this weekend as six singers take the stage to entertain residents, visitors and travellers. At 8pm each evening, live music will begin with the first night’s entertainment welcoming Kypros Charilaou, Elena Andreou, Petros Anastasiou and a six-piece band.

On August 14 three more singers are scheduled to perform, Koulla Andreou, Candy Nicolaou and the well-known Cypriot singers Stavros Constantinou. Entrance to one of the evenings costs €15, whereas tickets for both nights are €25 and can be purchased from the village’s Bridge Kiosk or the Kakopetria Square Kiosk.
