Music with a view at Val’s Place

val's place 2

The island’s west coast is full of charming spots with activities for all. Sunset chasing, local dining, buggy rides and the list of potential Paphos experiences goes on. There is one venue, located in the quiet village of Gialia near Polis Chrysochous that’s worthy of a visit for its views, the stunning location and its events. This weekend, there are three different events happening at Val’s Place, all featuring good music.

The weekend’s activities begin on Friday 13 with local band Alaloum performing live at 9pm. Given the venue’s location however, above the coast and overlooking the sea, it is worth it to go earlier to catch the stunning Paphos sunset over the trees and hills. A buffet will be served from 7.30pm until 10pm offering local dishes and more.

The weekend’s highlight however is Saturday’s all-day event. Batukinio Percussion Band, led by drummer Rodos Panagiotou will host a percussion workshop at Val’s Place at 11am with Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Playing along with members of the band, the workshop will offer participants the chance to experience and bang on these large drums and witness how sound comes together to form the popular and vibrant melodies of Samba Batucada and Samba Reggae.

Later on in the evening, an Afro-Brazilian Fiesta will follow at 9.30pm. Batukinio Percussion Band will take the stage along with ten professional musicians for an epic concert bringing the sounds of Brazil to the audience.

On Sunday 15, musicians Giannis and Nikolis will close off the week in a totally different mood. From 9pm onward, the two musicians will perform songs from the Greek Rembetiko genre bringing an end to a weekend full of music.
