Police on Sunday said 23 citizens and seven businesses were booked in the past 24 hours for violating Covid-19 measures.

Between 6am Saturday to 6am Sunday, there were 5,600 inspections across the country. Most of the people booked concerned people not using a face mask where required and five individuals did not have a safepass in indoor areas.

Specifically, there were 2,314 inspections in Nicosia where three people were booked along with one business owner, for running his premises without a safepass.

In Limassol, there were 558 inspections out of which 16 people were booked and one business that allowed a customer to enter without a safepass.

A total of 612 inspections were carried out in Larnaca, out of which one citizen was booked and one business where a member of staff was not wearing a mask.

There were 663 inspections on Paphos, where three citizens and four premises were booked. The reasons ranged from staff members not wearing a mask, not carrying a face mask, allowing customers to enter without a safepass and allowing customers to dance.

In Famagusta, there were 1057 inspections but no one was booked while in Morphou there were 149 inspections and no bookings.

Traffic police carried out 211 checks across the country without any bookings, while marine police carried out 36 inspections without booking anyone.
