Coronavirus: Over 75 pct of adult population fully vaccinated

Close to 80 per cent of the adult population have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine while over 75 per cent have been given both, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

According to health ministry data, by Tuesday, 79.4 per cent of the adult population had received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine and 75.1 per cent had completed their vaccination.

The ministry said 38.5 per cent of youths between 16 and 17 had received at least one jab with 30.4 per cent getting both.

The first dose of the vaccine was administered to 22.3 per cent of children between 12 and 15 with 9.2 per cent of the age group receiving both jabs.

Paphos leads the way in vaccinations with 90 per cent of its population completing its vaccination and 90.4 per cent receiving at least one jab.

It is followed by Famagusta and Nicosia with 88.8 and 78 per cent respectively, and Limassol with 77.8 per cent,

Larnaca continues to have the lowest coverage with 73.8 per cent.
