Police are investigating the circumstances under which a 22-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a road accident on Monday afternoon in Limassol.

The accident happened shortly after 6pm on Fragklinou Roosevelt street.

The 22-year-old man riding a moped lost control over the vehicle with the result that it crashed into the pavement and overturned.

While police officers went to the scene to start investigations the man was taken to Limassol general hospital by ambulance.

According to his doctors he suffered serious injuries and underwent surgery.

He is being treated in the intensive care unit and is reportedly in serious but out of danger condition.

Investigations revealed that the 22-year-old did not wear a helmet.
