Fire damages cafeteria

A fire, which broke out at 7.20pm in an area of Katydata village in the Nicosia district, was brought under full control at 8pm

Authorities on Tuesday were investigating a fire that caused extensive damage to a cafeteria in the Nicosia district a few minutes after midnight.

Two fire engines as well as police, to put out the blaze that started at the ground floor cafeteria in Peristerona.

Firefighters contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The fire service responded to 20 more fires between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday, as well as 32 phone calls for assistance, and nine for special services. It also received two prank calls.
