Two arrested with forged documents

Two more people were arrested on Tuesday after being caught attempting to leave the country from Paphos airport using forged travel documents.

Paphos police said that the first suspect is a 21-year-old woman of African origin, who tried to board a flight to France using a Portuguese travel document.

At passport control, suspicions were raised that the document had been forged, and during interrogations she revealed her age and told officers she was an asylum seeker.

Later in the day, a 36-year-old African man was intercepted at passport control after his French travel document was suspected to be forged.

Both were arrested and face identity fraud and forgery charges and will remain in custody while Paphos CID investigates.
