Police collaborated with a member of the public to rescue two people who got lost while hiking in the Troodos mountains on Tuesday night.

The pair called police around 10pm and said that they had got lost about two hours after setting off to hike a nature trail in the area.

Officers arrived at the scene and with the help of a citizen managed to find the two persons around 11.30pm on a steep slope.

Police then transferred the hikers to the local police station. The hikers were in good health, and after thanking the officers went home.
