Oroklini opens sharing library

Oroklini community has transformed an old white boat into an open library saying that books offer an “easy way to escape” during the current unprecedented circumstances.

The innovative project was placed on Yiannadon beach, with a wide variety of mainly literary books in Greek, English and Russian.

Swimmers and passers-by can put books that they no longer need on the shelves, and take any other book for free.

“In this day and age, when stress and thoughts can easily overwhelm us, books become even more valuable, as they give us an easy way to ‘escape’,” the community council’s announcement said.

The creation of the open library was an initiative by Oroklini community council and the area’s community library in collaboration with the Larnaca tourism development and promotion company.
