Moving to digital practices at House to be speeded up

ΠΡΟΕΔΡΟΣ ΒΟΥΛΗΣ ΣΥΝΑΝΤΗΣΗ ΜΕ ΥΦΥΠΟΥΡΓΟ ΕΡΕΥΝΑΣ

Speeding up the digital transition of the House of Representatives and modernising its operation were the focus of a meeting on Tuesday between House president Annita Demetriou and deputy minister of research, innovation and digital policy Kyriakos Kokkinos.

Acknowledging that Cyprus’ parliament lags in digitalisation and modern technological practices implemented by other European legislatures, Demetriou asked for the contribution of the deputy ministry and was assured that the House will have every support both as regards digital strategy and expertise.

One of the priorities of the House president is two-way communication between parliament and the people through a digital platform. She also wants to ensure the public has full access to information regarding legislative work and to eliminate the use of so much paper in line with the urgent need to cultivate greater environmental awareness.
